WHAT MAKES OXFORD CHRISTIAN CHURCH UNIQUE?

We are a relatively small congregation with a really big heart. We are a very intergenerational and inclusive church. On any given Sunday you will see children, youth, and adults whether male or female, help lead in and participate in worship and many other aspects of our church life. We also tend to be a laid back group of people who loves God, the Church, and one another. We are open to God's leading Spirit and are always seeking ways to share the love of Jesus within our community and beyond.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Oxford Christian Church was organized at the Old Sugar Ridge School in July 1831. The present property was purchased in 1851. The sanctuary was built in 1901 with brick made on site. The total cost was $1, 762. 20.

In March 2007, a Capital Campaign was launched for a new addition. We broke ground on September 28, 2008 and on May 31, 2009 we dedicated the Christian Life Center. The new addition is 5, 500 square feet featuring a gymnasium and large kitchen among other things. The center is available to host neighborhood events and activities.

AS A CONGREGATION OF THE DICIPLES OF CHRIST DENOMINATION WE BELIEVE IN:

Open Communion: The Lord's Supper is celebrated in weekly worship and is open to al who believe in Jesus Christ.

The Oneness of the Church: All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service.

Freedom of Belief: As Disciples, we are called together around the two essentials of faith: a belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and that Christians are free to follow the conscience guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study, prayer, and are expected to extend that freedom to others.

Baptism: In baptism, the self-centered life is set aside, washed away and a new life of trust in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.

The Ministry of Believers: Both ordained ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service, and spirited growth. And above all that, Jesus Christ is the son of the living God, who offers grace to all who seek it through His Son.
